Many of the same areas that experienced severe weather at the end of last week and the beginning of the weekend are in for another round (or two) later this week.
Above is the latest severe weather outlook from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) valid for Thursday. Severe thunderstorms are forecast within the yellow shaded areas, which includes several major cities in the Midwest, Great Lakes and Northeast.
The threat of severe weather will shift a bit to the Southeast for Friday, as shown by the red shaded area on the following image:
At this time it appears that damaging wind gusts and some large hail will be the primary threats on both Thursday and Friday, however isolated tornado development cannot be completely ruled out. This will especially be the case with any storms that are able to remain isolated and become well organized during the first 1-2 hours of development.
If you live across the above mentioned areas, please be alert on Thursday and Friday, and have a plan of action ready if threatening weather is observed or a warning is issued for your area.
