Above is the latest severe weather outlook for today from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) in Norman, OK. Severe storms are forecast within the yellow shaded area on the image.
A surface frontal boundary will move along the Western edge of the severe weather outlook area by late afternoon. At the same time, an upper level weather disturbance will clip the same region while passing largely to the North.
Thunderstorms are forecast to develop along and near the frontal boundary by mid to late afternoon, and increase into at least early to mid-evening. Some of the storms are likely to become severe, with damaging wind gusts and large hail the primary threats.
If you live across this region, which includes the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Ft. Smith, Joplin and Springfield areas, please keep an eye to the sky this afternoon and evening and listen for later updates and possible warnings.
